Google AdSense PIN Process

What is a PIN?

In order to become eligible to receive payments for your AdSense account, all publishers are required to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN). PINs are printed on white 4.5 x 6 inch (11.4 x 15.2 cm) postcards and sent via standard mail. To view the outside of the PIN mailer, please see our entry on What does the PIN mailer look like?

Why do I need a PIN?

PINs are necessary to verify the accuracy of your contact information and to help ensure that you can receive your payments.

When should I expect to receive a PIN?

We'll print and send your PIN via standard mail several days after your account balance reaches the verification threshold for the first time. PINs typically arrive within 2-4 weeks, but may take longer depending on your location.

How long do I have to enter a PIN?

You'll have 6 months from the initial issue date to enter your PIN. If you have not entered a PIN within 4 months, we will replace the paid advertisements on your site with unpaid Public Service Ads. If you still have not entered your PIN within 6 months, your account will be disabled and your unpaid earnings will be refunded to the appropriate advertisers.

What if I do not receive my PIN?

If you do not receive your first PIN, you can request 2 replacement PINs. For instructions on requesting a new PIN, visit How can I request a new PIN?.

If you have requested your maximum of 3 PINs and have not received any of them within 90 days, then sign in to your account. You'll see a notice on the Reports Overview page with further instructions.

Google AdSense Phone Verification

Do I need to verify my phone number?

As part of our effort to protect the accounts of AdSense publishers and provide account-specific support, a valid phone number is required for publishers. To ensure that your information is accurate and up-to-date, we use telephone number verification.

How does phone verification work?

When you're ready to verify your number, visit your My Account tab and click the 'Please verify your phone number' link in the Required Action section. This link will bring you to a page where you'll be able to initiate a call by clicking a button. Our system will automatically call you at the number listed, and when you pick up the phone you'll receive a 5-digit code to enter into a box on the page.

Please note that phone numbers with extensions do not work with our phone verification system.

How long do I have to enter a verification code?

You'll have 6 months from the date that your earnings reached the verification threshold to enter your verification code. If you have not entered your verification code within 4 months, we will replace the paid advertisements on your site with unpaid Public Service Ads. If you still have not entered your verification code within 6 months, your account will be disabled and your unpaid earnings will be refunded to the appropriate advertisers.

If you're unable to verify your phone number or encounter technical issues during the verification process, please complete this phone verification form

How do I get the AdSense code?

The AdSense code is generated from within your publisher account. This is the code that you'll need to add to your pages in order to display Google ads or a search box on your webpages. Please follow the steps below to generate your AdSense code:

  1. Log in to your account at https://www.google.com/adsense
  2. Visit the AdSense Setup tab
  3. Choose your product - AdSense for content to place ads on your site, AdSense for search to add a search box to your site.
  4. Follow the guided setup to choose a format and colors. You can also choose any additional options that may apply to your site, including channels and alternate ads
  5. Your code will be generated in the Your ad code window according to your selections.
  6. Copy-and-paste the code into the source code of the webpages on which you wish to display Google ads or an AdSense for search box. For tips on adding the code to your page, read How do I add the AdSense code to my site?.
  7. If implemented correctly, Google ads or a search box will appear immediately. Initially, the ads that appear may be public service ads, for which you will not receive earnings. Once our crawlers have visited your page, however, targeted ads will begin to appear.

How do I sign in to my account?

To sign in to your AdSense account, follow these steps:

  1. Visit https://www.google.com/adsense
  2. In the Existing AdSense Users box, enter the email address and password you supplied during signup.
  3. Click Sign in to enter your account.

If this is your first time entering your account, you'll be asked to read and sign the Google AdSense Terms and Conditions. There's important information about the program, so take the time to read through these terms before proceeding.

Once you've read through the document, select the agreement checkbox and click I agree to continue to your account.

What payment methods can I choose from?

The payment methods available to you vary based on your country of residence. Depending on your location, we may offer:

  • U.S. Dollar checks
  • local currency checks
  • Electronic Funds Transfer
  • Western Union Quick Cash
  • Rapida
The easiest way to find out your payment options is to visit your Account Settings page and edit your payment details.

When will I get paid?

In the AdSense program, you'll be paid when your earnings reach the payment threshold, as long as there are no holds on your account, and you're in compliance with our policies.

However, we don't send you a check or bank transfer at the exact moment the zeroes roll over. First, we have to validate your earnings for accuracy -- a process that takes place the first week of every month on the previous month's earnings. Then, we send payments a couple weeks later, usually during the last week of the month.

So if your earnings reach the payment threshold in February, we'll send you a payment before the end of March.

If your account balance hasn't reached the payment threshold at the end of the month, we'll roll your earnings over to the following month, until the payment threshold is reached. Balances include your total combined earnings for all AdSense products.

Please note that if a publisher's account is found to be in violation of our Terms and Conditions or policies, we may at any time withhold payment (beginning from when Google initiates its investigation of potential violations), charge back the publisher's account, and/or refund advertisers for clicks received on the publisher's site or AdSense for search results page. In addition, if a publisher is past due on any payment to Google in connection with the Google AdWords program, we reserve the right to withhold payment until all outstanding payments have been made. For a complete description of payment terms, please refer to the AdSense Terms and Conditions.

Can I filter the ads that are displayed on my site?

  1. Can I filter the ads that are displayed on my site
Yes, you can prevent ads from appearing on your pages using two tools in your account.

  • Competitive Ad Filter

This filter lets you create and manage a list of websites whose ads you'd prefer not to show on your pages. Add a URL to your filter list, and ads from that site will no longer display on your pages. Learn more

  • Ad Review Center

This tool allows you to prevent placement-targeted ads from appearing on your pages. You can block ads by advertiser or by ad group. Learn more

Keep in mind, though, that filtering ads may decrease ad competition to appear on your pages, which can decrease your potential earnings.
