How can I help make sure my application will be approved?

Savvy publishers like yourself can avoid common application pitfalls by being mindful of the trouble areas below.

Payee/Contact Name
You must be able to receive checks made payable to the name on your AdSense application. AdSense applications with incomplete names won't be approved.

  • For business accounts:

Enter the name of the organization in the 'Payee Name' field
Enter the name of the person in your organization who manages the website in the 'Contact Name' field

  • Address

Only AdSense applications with valid mailing addresses will be approved. Please provide your complete address including as much of the information listed below as is available for your location.

Street Address (including house number, street name/number, flat/apartment number)
City / Town
State / Area
Zip Code
Country / Territory

  • Email Address

The email address you enter will be the login you use to sign in to AdSense. You'll also receive all communication regarding your AdSense account at this email address, starting with your email verification message. For this reason, please make sure you enter a valid address where you can receive email.

If you enter an incorrect email address, you'll need to submit a new application using your desired email address.

  • Under Construction/Difficult Site Navigation

In order to be approved, your website must be launched and contain enough textual content for our specialists to evaluate. Websites that are under construction, don't load, or have non-functioning links, will not be approved. Please ensure that the URL on your application is entered correctly.

  • Site Ownership

You must have access to edit the HTML source code of the website you submit for AdSense. If you submit a site you don't own (for example, www.google.com), you won't be able to place the AdSense code on the site and your application will not be approved.

In some locations, including China and India, we also require publishers to have owned their sites for 6 months. We've taken this step to ensure the quality of our advertising network and protect the interests of our advertisers and existing publishers.

  • Unsupported Language

Unfortunately, AdSense is not yet available for all languages. If the primary language of your website doesn't appear in our list of supported languages, we'll be unable to approve your application. In the future, please check back at the link provided to learn whether AdSense is launched in your language.

  • Other Disapproval Reasons

For a complete list of requirements for a successful AdSense application, please read our program policies in detail.

Am I a Business or Individual account?

There's no difference in the services or payment structure between Individual and Business accounts. Business account payments will be made payable to the Company Name, while Individual accounts are paid out to the Payee Name of the account holder. Do note, however, that the Rapida and Western Union Quick Cash payment options are only available to publishers with individual-type accounts (not available in all locations).

Once your application has been submitted, you can't change your account type. Should you ever need to select a new account type, our specialists will work with you to close your current account and to open a new account with your updated information.

Welcome to Google AdSense

Can I sign up if I am already a part of an ad network?

Yes, although we do have some guidelines as to how non-Google ads may be displayed along with Google ads. We do allow affiliate or limited-text links.

If your ad network already displays Google ads on your pages, you can still join AdSense and run ads on your site through our program. We allow publishers to display up to three standard Google ad units on any webpage.

Keep in mind that it's your responsibility to work out any contractual issues that may arise with your ad network as a result of serving Google ads directly.

Is my site eligible to participate in AdSense?

While we can't say whether your site would be eligible without fully reviewing your application, there are a few things you can check before applying to see if your site would be a good fit with AdSense

  • Do you have a website?

You'll need one in order to participate. If you don't have one, you can create one using Blogger. Read our tips for creating great content so you'll attract users and advertisers to your site.

  • Are you at least 18 years old?

As noted in our Terms and Conditions, we can only accept applications from applicants who are over 18.

  • Does your site comply with our program policies?

Check that your site complies with our policies before submitting your application. Keep in mind that we may change our policies at any time, and per our Terms and Conditions, it's your responsibility to keep up-to-date with them.

  • Have you owned your site for 6 months?

In some locations, including China and India, we require publishers to have owned their sites for 6 months. We've taken this step to ensure the quality of our advertising network and protect the interests of our advertisers and existing publishers.

When you're ready, just submit an application. We'll review your application and get back to you by email within about a week.

How quickly will Google ads start appearing on my site?

After you've been accepted into the program and have implemented the HTML ad code on your site, temporary “blank ads” will be shown until the final approval process is completed. These blank ads will blend into the background of your pages and shouldn’t interfere with the user experience. During this time you won’t be generating earnings, and if you log into your account you’ll see a notification that your account is under review. This brief review period also gives us the opportunity to crawl your site and add it to our index so that we can start serving ads as soon as you’re approved.

Soon after you’ve implemented the ad code, a final approval decision will be made and you’ll be notified by email. Once approved, live ads will start showing in your existing ad units.

Your ad relevance should increase over time. However, keep in mind that if you make changes to a page, it may be 1 or 2 weeks before our crawler captures the changes and updates our index to provide more relevant ads.

Adding the AdSense for search code to your pages will instantly generate an AdSense for search box. As search results are displayed on Google-hosted pages, relevant ads will appear immediately, if ads are available for the particular query.

Google AdSense PIN Process

What is a PIN?

In order to become eligible to receive payments for your AdSense account, all publishers are required to enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN). PINs are printed on white 4.5 x 6 inch (11.4 x 15.2 cm) postcards and sent via standard mail. To view the outside of the PIN mailer, please see our entry on What does the PIN mailer look like?

Why do I need a PIN?

PINs are necessary to verify the accuracy of your contact information and to help ensure that you can receive your payments.

When should I expect to receive a PIN?

We'll print and send your PIN via standard mail several days after your account balance reaches the verification threshold for the first time. PINs typically arrive within 2-4 weeks, but may take longer depending on your location.

How long do I have to enter a PIN?

You'll have 6 months from the initial issue date to enter your PIN. If you have not entered a PIN within 4 months, we will replace the paid advertisements on your site with unpaid Public Service Ads. If you still have not entered your PIN within 6 months, your account will be disabled and your unpaid earnings will be refunded to the appropriate advertisers.

What if I do not receive my PIN?

If you do not receive your first PIN, you can request 2 replacement PINs. For instructions on requesting a new PIN, visit How can I request a new PIN?.

If you have requested your maximum of 3 PINs and have not received any of them within 90 days, then sign in to your account. You'll see a notice on the Reports Overview page with further instructions.
